For the first time in the 18 year history of the festival, Rhythm and Vines will be live streamed to the world - exclusively on Twitch, the live, interactive streaming service with content that spans music, gaming, sports, entertainment, and more.
In a year where festivals around the world have been postponed or cancelled, the world will be watching as New Zealand artists will be putting on the best show on the planet to a sold out festival audience of 23,000. And the Twitch community will be there for the ride.
Each night of the festival from December 29, a number of live and pre-recorded performances from headline acts as well as up-and-coming talent will be filmed and edited into a highly produced 5 hour showcase, streaming from 8pm each night. And of course, the New Year's Eve countdown will be broadcasted to thousands across the globe as New Zealand heads into the much-anticipated arrival of 2021.
The festival also sees this as an opportunity to showcase Gisborne and the stunningly world class venue that is Waiohika Estate. The show will be hosted by popular Twitch streamer Ron Plays Games, who with 50,000 fans of his own, will have the opportunity to gamify the experience for watchers tuning in alongside special guests.
