The Ruby Suns
The Ruby Suns are an electronic/pop band that make music that sounds like nothing else in New Zealand. They’re signed to really good labels at home and overseas (Lil Chief, Sub Pop, Memphis Industries) and have toured with lots of great bands in heaps of different countries. They don’t have a manager and they know nothing about marketing and they make all the music by themselves (well, Ryan McPhun does) and all of their videos and photos have been made or taken by friends. Graham Panther plays bass and keys and sings and Alistair Deverick plays the drums live. They’ve got three records and some of them have done pretty well. There’s a fourth one coming early 2012 and a whole bunch of these new songs are going to be given birth to, in a live sense, on this year’s Rhythm & Vines stage. Thank You very much and let’s party.
