The Missing Link
Gisborne born DJ and musician, Lincoln Wright AKA “The Missing Link”, has played records since the age of 2 and started DJing at age 15. Brought up on a diet of guitar-based music, and introduced to funk, soul and jazz before a move to Wellington in 1991. A plethora of new sound was realised in the discovery of dub and drum&bass. The Missing Link has been influenced lately by the “second wave” of the dub-step sound, sometimes referred as “future bass”, ever mutating off shoots of glitch and post-techno. Instead of relying on predictable jagged textures, brutalist rhythms and going for the jugular on every track, The Missing Link uses his skills as a drummer favouring elegance over aggression, spinning vinyl for the head as well as the feet.
