Clap Clap Riot
In a live scene that is dominated by bands reliant on Laptops and samplers, Clap Clap Riot are one of few live bands that still offer a true live experience, 4 instruments and something exciting that will keep you on your toes from show to show.
‘One of the best gigs I’ve seen all year’ – Groove Guide Live review – Issue 379, August 2011
Taking their name from the applause machine designed for Top Of The Pops in the 1980’s, the band burst on to the scene in 2009 with the release of their debut EP ‘TV Knows Better’. Since then, the shaggy-haired twenty something’s have been making a mark on the music industry with performances on MTV Australia’s prestigious ‘The Lair’; in front of an estimated 140,000 at the Christchurch earthquake relief concert and at all of New Zealand’s major music festivals including the Big Day Out, Rhythm and Vines and Splore.
The band has also played a number of shows alongside acts: Jimmy Eat World (USA), The Naked and Famous, British India (AUS), Birds of Tokyo (AUS), The Datsuns, Cut Off Your Hands and completed nationwide tours with The Scare (AUS), The Checks and Motocade.
The Auckland-based foursome have recently completed their debut album with Tui award winning producer/engineer, Andrew Buckton. The album is due for release at the tail end of 2011.
The debut single from the album – ‘Everyone’s asleep’ had heavy rotation on C4, FOUR and Juice TV and The Rock radio station. On top of that, the single was short-listed for New Zealands most prestigious songwriting award, the Apra Silver Scroll, for the 2011 awards’.
Their third single – ‘Moss-Haired Girl’ was released mid-November and has been added to The Rock and Hauraki radio stations playlists.
