1814
1814 have fast become a major draw card on the New Zealand Summer Festival circuit playing 200+ shows a year at home and Australia.
The band Patu Colbert, Jimmy Colbert, Shaun Colbert, Erana Jones, Darren Katene, Harmony Tepania, Maihi Pinker, Chris Peirce and Clayton Holloway come from Northland with the exception of two members joining the band from Rotorua and Wellington to cover sax and vocals.
1814 started out in 2006 and have since gained a huge reputation for their live shows, full of energy, up-beat grooves, wicked sax and sweet soulful vocals.
Founder guitarist/vocalist, Patu describes the sound as having a funky, RnB, roots reggae feel to it.
Debut album Jah Rydem was released in 2008 and made the NZ top 20 album charts. It was placed #1 along with three top 10 singles in the Independent Music NZ (IMNZ) charts during 2010. Jah Rastafari was also the biggest selling down load during this time and Whakahonohono mai picked up the most played song in Te Reo Maori.
